Lifestreamers Childcare in Como strives to provide a high quality service which meets the needs of the families and children associated with it. We believe in the importance of a warm and caring team who work together to provide a nurturing and secure environment where children can “be”. We are committed to providing quality care and have a desire to reflect Christ’s love and compassion in all our interactions with families and children.
We have a consistent team across the service who interact with all children on a regular basis. We aim to promote a sense of “belonging” for our children through encouraging family input into our policies, programs and day‐to‐day experiences.
We believe that children “become” by learning through their play and as such we provide a mix of experiences that foster their curiosity, challenge them to explore, provide opportunity to master skills in their own time, promote independence, develop the ability to communicate and form strong relationships with those around them and above all to show them they are loved and valued.
We believe that God created us all as unique individuals and we respect the cultural, linguistic and social diversity of our community. We aim to foster equity, tolerance and inclusiveness in our children through involvement with a diverse range of people.
We have a strong focus on sustainability and embrace the responsibility to improve our social, economic and environmental performance without impairing future generation’s ability to enjoy the same conditions that we do today. To this end, we will implement strategies to ‘reduce, reuse, recycle and turn‐it‐off’ so that through our actions the children will also develop a desire to embrace environmental responsibilities.
Our goal is to serve you through open communication, respect, confidentiality, support and trust. Our team have a shared commitment to uphold Christ‐like attitudes in our interactions with you and your family.
Value of Play
“Play is the highest form of research” – Albert Einstein
At Lifestreamers Childcare in Como, we strive to develop your child as a whole, encompassing all aspects of their personality and development. We strongly believe children learn best through hands-on exploring, discovering, manipulating, experimenting, creating and communicating in a stimulating environment and through PLAY they learn to understand the world around them.
Play-based learning is described in the Early Years Learning Framework as ‘a context for learning through which children organise and make sense of their social worlds, as they actively engage with people, objects and representations’. Play is a context for learning that:
Allows for the expression of personality and uniqueness
Enhances dispositions such as curiosity and creativity
Enables children to make connections between prior experiences and new learning
Assists children to develop relationships and concepts
Stimulates a sense of wellbeing
One of the greatest benefits of play-based learning is that it boosts the development of social competence within the child. Children are actively building relationships, learning to resolve conflict, negotiating and regulating their behaviour. As Lifestreamers Educators, we are here to support your child to become confident, powerful, valuable and active participants in their community and the world around them. We aim to build a passion and enjoyment for learning within your child.
How we Program
We program a weekly/fornightly curriculum that encompasses a range of learning activities to embrace the different learning styles of each child. Our program includes music & movement, art & craft, cooking, construction, outdoor play, small & large group activities and so much more! Educators are actively observing your child’s learning by listening, watching and talking to them and then reflecting and evaluating on the implemented program in order to extend and build on your child’s learning and development based on their interests.
Lifestreamers Childcare uses the following learning frameworks to guide the curriculum which enhances each child’s learning and development. the frameworks aim to support children to become successful learners, confident & creative individuals and active & informed citizens.
The Early Years Learning Framework assists educators in Early childhood Care settings. There is specific emphasis on play-based learning and recognition that communication & language as well as social & emotional development are important for the overall well-being of children.
The My Time, Our Place Framework assists educators in School Age Care settings. Importance is placed on play & leisure, with children’s learning & development not being limited to any particular time or place.
Further, the National Quality Standards for Early Childhood Education and Care and School Aged Care supports the implementation of this national framework by ensuring that necessary environments, facilities, staffing arrangements, resources and management structures are in place.
